10% Shift Chico is a community-wide grassroots movement of citizens, businesses, and non-profits working to shift 10% or more of our own annual budgets from non-local businesses to locally owned and independent businesses. Click here for a definition of local independent.

This modest but important change will result in a larger share of our dollars staying in our region, creating an economic multiplier that supports thousands of new jobs and spurs a fundamental transformation of the Chico economy.

A Pledge Form and Local Calculator are ready for you to make the Shift on the Chico News & Review website, so you can calculate your monthly expenses and pledge to shift 10% of your spending over the course of a year. Join our Facebook fan page to be part of the conversation!

Goal of the 10% Shift campaign:

  • To have 1000 local citizens make the 10% Shift pledge

10% Shift Chico is a project of Think Local, Chico! in collaboration with the Chico News & Review (CN&R), Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, North Valley Community Foundation and Mary Flynn, Chair of the City of Chico Economic Development Committee. Project coordinator is Michelle Power, Owner of Bidwell Perk, Member of Think Local, Chico!.

10% Shift was started by our friends at Somerville Local First, our BALLE sister network in New England.
