To be included in our guide, you must be able to answer YES to the following questions:
- Is the business privately held, not publicly traded? (Exceptions: banks, media).
- Do the business owners, totaling at least 50% of the ownership, live in Butte, Glenn, or Tehama counties?
- Does the business have an address in Butte, Glenn, or Tehama counties?
- Is the business registered in California with no corporate or national headquarters outside the state?
- Can the business make independent decisions about its name, look, and all issues related to purchasing, practices and distribution?
- Does the business pay all rent, marketing, and other business expenses without assistance from a corporate headquarters?
