We welcome your support and invite you to join us! We offer various levels of membership:
Business (Core) Membership — dues based on annual business revenue
Business members must be able to answer "yes" to these six questions:
- Is the business privately held, not publicly traded (exceptions: banks, media)?
- Do the business owners, totaling at least 50% of the ownership, live in Chico or one of its surrounding rural communities?
- Does the business have a Chico address?
- Is the business registered in California with no corporate or national HQ outside the state?
- Can the business make independent decisions about its name, look, and all issues related to purchasing, practices and distribution?
- Does the business pay all rent, marketing, and other business expenses without assistance from a corporate HQ?
Our revenue-based dues structure for Business members is as follows:
Less than $500,000: $85 per year
$500K - $1M: $150 per year
$1-2M: $250 per year
$2-5M: $350 per year
$5-10M: $500 per year
$10-25M: $1,000 per year
$25-100M: $1,500 per year
Greater than $100M: $2,000 per year
Non-profit Membership — $50 per year
All local non-profits are welcome to join. Non-profit membership applies to local non-profit and community organizations. Members must be able to answer "yes" to questions 2-6 above. Those who cannot may join as an affiliate member.
Supporting Membership — same revenue-based dues structure as Business Members
For franchises and other non-local/independent businesses -or- businesses that are located outside of Chico. Affiliate membership applies to businesses that don't meet the Business (Core) membership criteria yet firmly believe in the mission and values of a living economy as espoused by Think Local, Chico!
Individual Membership — $25 minimum per year
Individual membership applies to individual Chico citizens who believe in supporting local independent business. Any citizen who cares about Chico is welcome to join us!

As we grow our organization, here are some of the benefits we plan to provide to our members:
- Exposure. A series of public and media events designed to draw attention to the benefits of supporting locally owned businesses. Events designed for both business to consumer (B2C) and business to business (B2B)
- Materials to display and distribute. Includes window decals, posters and other printed and digital collateral highlighting the economic and social benefits of supporting locally owned businesses.
- Online directory. Includes member listing, monthly showcase of rotating members for added visibility, and other benefits
- Coop advertising opportunities. Available for print, radio and tv
- Education and support. Networking and educational meetings designed to inform and sustain the local independent business sector.
- Connections. Strong business networks to facilitate connections to suppliers and support services. Mentoring opportunities.
